Benz Bangkok: The Recreation

About the Project

Benz BKK, Thailand’s largest car dealership, is building one of the biggest Mercedes-Benz showrooms in Southeast Asia. The impressive 12-story building boasts cutting-edge technology and is located near the main tollway from Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi International Airport. This move is aimed at impressing both local and international customers following the success of Mercedes-Benz dealers since 1973.

Our company was chosen to design the eight through twelve floors, with the eighth floor as a customer clubhouse and other floors for workplace functions. We have designated the eighth floor as a luxurious customer clubhouse. Meanwhile, the other floors will serve as functional workspaces, including town halls, conference rooms, executive suites, and operational areas.

The inspiration behind the Mercedes-Benz’s “Silberpfeil” comes from two distinct sources: the Silver Arrow and the Möbius strip. The Silver Arrow has been an emblematic symbol for Mercedes-Benz’s car racing team, particularly in the 1930s, due to its futuristic and silver streamlined design. The vehicle earned the nickname “Silberpfeil” (Silver Arrow) and is renowned for its unbeatable performance in motorsports, especially in Grand Prix racing. On the other hand, the Möbius strip is a mathematical concept that represents a surface with only one side and one edge. With a half-twist, it forms a loop that signifies the infinity symbol, making it a unique feature. Both the Silver Arrow and the Möbius strip symbolize performance, movement, and dynamism, making them the perfect inspiration for conceptualizing a design.

It’s quite a challenge to create a space that embodies “joy and fun,” but the innovative 10.Design team has found a solution. We took inspiration from a car dealership’s logo and applied the “Möbius” concept, resulting in twisting and separating the meeting rooms based on different business units from the 9th to the 10th floor. This design adds a stimulating and dynamic vibe to the area, fulfilling the designers’ vision. To achieve a seamless transition, the three stories are connected by a single staircase, and an open atrium is located at the center of the building.

The 9th to 11th floors of the building serve as multi workplace areas, connected by space and featuring meeting rooms on each floor. The Benz BKK car showroom, village’s real estate office, and preowned cars’ operation are located on the 9th to 11th floors, respectively. A central atrium fosters social communication and can hold up to 50 people, while the 12th floor is reserved for the executive management team with specialized facilities.

In the fiercely competitive world of car dealerships, it’s critical to provide an unparalleled customer experience. Benz BKK addressed the issue of extended waiting times for car pick-ups by designing a luxury clubhouse exclusively for their clients, located on the 8th floor, providing an unparalleled customer experience.

The centerpiece of the clubhouse is the lounge, which boasts a stunning luxury modern style and features a striking pendant lamp inspired by the Mercedes-Benz logo. Benz BKK also offers free access to a range of exclusive club facilities, such as a spa, gym, and meeting rooms that can be booked via the front-room concierge. Even the kids have their own designated area, complete with soft-touch panels for added safety. The dealership takes pride in its sustainable design approach, incorporating environmentally-friendly materials into the interior design. The sky garden, adorned with lush trees, offers a serene environment where clients can relax and unwind while waiting for their car.
